Today I had brunch at Kramer's Cafe in Dupont Circle in D.C. I've had brunch one time before here but don't remember it as a great experience. Today however was amazing.
My friends and I got a table outside and enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather---a welcome change from the cold and dreary winter. I am confident that Spring is around the corner!
As a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs, brunch menus can be tricky to navigate. They usually don't offer much more than a form of an egg dish, bacon or french toast. There are two options on the Kramer's Cafe menu that are tasty and great for vegetarians and vegans. Today I had the Whole Grain Breakfast which included red quinoa mixed with toasted almonds, currants, apricots, cinnamon and maple syrup. On the side there was granola, fresh greek yogurt and seasonal fruit. I've only had quinoa a handful of times but never as a sweet dish. It was absolutely delicious and makes me want to experiment more with quinoa dishes. I'd love to find some semi-easy veggie friendly quinoa dishes.
Kramer's also offers an oatmeal, granola, yogurt and fruit dish. Next time I will be sure to try that!
Who knows what next Sunday brunch will bring...
